In the final episode of the special series this week on food waste, PBS News Hour series “Waste Not, Want Not” looks at some innovative solutions being developed to deal with the growing problem of spoiled and surplus food in this country.
Dairy farmers have been forced to dump milk due to the coronavirus pandemic. In response, Dairy Farmers of America has partnered with Vanguard Renewables and HP Hood to fund the donation of 8,600 gallons of milk from Massachusetts farms to local families in need.
People in need received free milk donated by Dairy Farmers of America Massachusetts farms. Volunteers distributed all 8,600 gallons of milk to approximately 4000 Boston-area residents who arrived by car, motorcycle, bike, and on foot to the May 7 event.
Volunteers from Jordan Dairy Farms, Vanguard Renewables, DFA, and the MA National Guard distributed 8,600 gallons of milk to approximately 4000 Boston-area residents.
Thanks to everyone who made this Farmers Feeding Families milk donation event possible particularly the Massachusetts members of Dairy Farmers of America. 8,600 gallons of milk were distributed to approximately 4000 families and individuals.
Dairy Farmers of America and its Massachusetts farm families are donating 8,600 gallons of milk to families in need in a milk drive up event at Boston College High School on Thursday, May 7, 2020 starting at 9 a.m. This event is co-sponsored by Vanguard Renewables in cooperation with H.P. Hood. Limit is 2 gallons of milk per car or walk up participant.
